Royal Tiger walk

Helen B

Join us for a short walk in Hanningfield, just long enough to drum up an appetite to do justice to the buffet at the Royal Tiger Thai Indian restaurant.

Meet in the car park of the Royal Tiger at 10:30 for the walk, dining at 2pm. It’s on the Old Southend Road (old A130) at Rettendon Common, north east of Hanningfield reservoir (grid ref TQ754998, postcode CM3 8EE, see map).

The walk will be about six miles, with fine views over the reservoir.

Let Helen know if you’re coming by 7th March at the latest, as she needs to confirm numbers with the restaurant.

Wednesday 12th March

Committee Meeting

We will be trip planning for late summer and organising Wednesday evenings for May. Everybody’s welcome.

The Langton Centre, Hartsop

Thursday 20th to Tuesday 25th March 2008

Easter in the Lake District

Dave P

Five nights at the Langton Centre, Hartsop in Patterdale, at the foot of the Kirkstone Pass, near Brotherswater, 2 miles from Ullswater and in sight of Hellvelyn and the High Street range. An ideal location for some of the best walking in the Lake District.

The centre has five dormitories, central heating, showers, a common room with easy chairs, dining room and games room, a drying room and well equipped kitchen.

Pillows and blankets are provided; please bring your own sleeping bag. To find it, turn off A592 near Brotherswater onto the lane to Hartsop (phone box on the corner). We are in the big white house next to phone box. Grid reference NY405133. Parking behind the house (by the games room, not in the lane).

A deposit of £30 will book your place. Total cost will be about £13 per night for bed and meals, plus £35 pounds petrol contribution for those sharing lifts from the Chelmsford area. So if you stay all 5 nights, the total will be about £100.

Wednesday 26th March

Baggett’s Brain-Teasers

Helen B

Having trained our bodies with an Easter spent in the Lakes, it’s time for a little brain training. Helen has prepared a splendid quiz designed to get those little grey cells going.

Note: Unless otherwise stated, Wednesday events start at 8.30pm at the YMCA in Victoria Road, Chelmsford
