Shrove Wednesday

Jane & Gordon

Jane and Gordon have kindly invited us over to their house to celebrate the start of Lent with a big blow-out on pancakes. Come and share your favourite recipe and fillings. Please bring your own ingredients and pan, if you have one. Please let Jane know if you’re coming and we’ll look forward to seeing you anytime after 7.30pm.

Sunday 10^th February

Greenwich Walk

Meet at Cutty Sark tube station at 11am for a walk around historic Greenwich (approx 6 miles).  There probably will be opportunities for refreshments during the afternoon, but please bring sandwiches to tide you over.

Alstonefield Hostel, Peak District

Ali

Overlooking Dovedale, this hostel is a comfortable base from which to explore the Manifold Valley and Beresford and Wolfscote Dales. The scenery is just as stunning as it is in August, but you miss the crowds.

From the A515 take the road signposted to Alstonefield. Go past Overdale B&B into Gypsy Lane and the hostel is on your left. Grid Reference: SK133556.

£30 deposit to book your bed (total cost will be about £56, including food and petrol contribution from Chelmsford)

Wednesday 27^th February

Pub night - The Leather Bottle, Pleshey

Beer, chat and a roaring fire – so much better than staying in to do the ironing. As usual we shall be propping up the bar from about 8:30pm. (About 5 miles NW of Chelmsford, the pub is in the centre of Pleshey village, grid ref TL665145, see map)
