Easter Trip to the Lake District

Dave P

Hawse End and Derwent Water

We have booked Hawse End Cottage for 5 nights, near Portinscale in the Lake District. The location is outstanding, at the foot of Catbells, on the shore of Derwent Water. Easy access to both Borrowdale and Newlands Valley, you can walk the Newlands Horseshoe from the door, about 3 miles to walk to Keswick, and the Keswick Launch calls at Hawse End giving lots of options for walks around the lake.

Directions: From Penrith and the M6 - Take Exit 40 and follow A66. Just west of Keswick, take the road signposted for Portinscale. Follow through Portinscale village, continue 3 miles, passing the Derwentwater Marina and straight on past two right hand signposts to Ullock and Stair. Then take the turning to the Hawse End Centre on the left. Follow this drive past the Centre; we're in the Cottage which is at the far end of the road (postcode CA12 5UE, grid ref NY250210, ///animate.level.thickens or see this map).

All bed-linen is provided.

Deposit £70 to book your place. Total cost will be arount £35 per night including all meals, plus about £45 towards petrol for those sharing lifts from Essex.

Note: Unless otherwise stated, Wednesday events start at 8.30pm on Zoom. Please get in touch for joining instructions.
