Sunday 2nd September Sunday Bike Ride: The Lodes Way Dave P The Lodes Way is a cycle path across the fens from Anglesey Abbey to Wicken Fen. The Cambridgeshire Lodes comprise six historic man-made waterways connecting fen edge villages to the River Cam. It’s a 16 mile round trip, but we’ll probably extend the route, returning via Upware and the Five Miles from Anywhere Inn on the banks of the Cam. And there are of course National Trust cafés at each end. Meet at 10.30am the Natioanl Trust car park at Anglessey Abbey CB25 9EJ. Wednesday 5th September Committee Meeting Planning events for December and trips for next spring. Please feel free to join us. We’ll be at The Crown in Sandon from 8.30pm. Wednesday 12th September Pub Meal – Coach and Horses Jim Join Jim for a slap up meal at the Coach and Horses, Billericay, CM12 9LU, from 7:30pm. Let Jim know by 5th Sept if you want to come. Wednesday 19th September Turkish Meal Dave J It’s almost Dave’s birthday, so we’re going to a new Turkish restaurant in Witham. The Astare is at 101 Newland Street, CM8 1AA. Please let Dave know by 12th Sept if you want to come. Sunday 23rd September Try Kayaking John W Postponed from July, when it was too windy, John is hosting a taster session of kayaking on the beautiful, quiet creeks of the River Crouch. We use stable, unsinkable, sit on kayaks. You do not need rollover training! No experience needed - there will be instruction and a safety briefing before we go out. Tea and cakes in the clubhouse afterwards. £3.00 per person to cover hire of kayak and buoyancy aid – pay on the day. Limited to 10 people – email John W to book. Sheen Bunkhouse
is a converted barn in a quiet corner of the Peak District,
close to the beautiful Dove and Manifold valleys. Comprehensively equipped, it

by the barn, the Manifold Valley Track, Tissington Trail and High Peak Trail
provide easy access to beautiful countryside. Dovedale, the Upper Dove Valley and the remote and mysterious moorlands around Flash and Longnor offer
stunning scenery for walkers. Directions: On the B5054 between Hartington and Hulme End take the turning to Sheen (also signposted for "Staffordshire Knott"). The bunkhouse is on the right 200yds after the pub.
