Wednesday Meetings, Weekends Away & Other Events
Wednesday 4th September
Braintree Town Trail
Romans crossroads, medieval pilgrims, Flemish weavers, Huguenot silk-makers, a famous biologist and metal windows all feature in the history of Braintree. Meet at 7:30pm outside the Town Hall in Market Place (see map) for a short walk taking in the historic sights of Braintree (there’s a car park in Manor Street, CM7 3HW, just beyond the town hall). We’ll get to the Bull pub in Market Place for a night cap about 9pm.
Sunday 8th September
Oaklands and Writtle
Meet in the Writtle village car park at 10.30am for a walk out to Chelmsford Museum in Oaklands Park for the ‘Ale and Hearty’ exhibition – a celebration of the historic pubs and brewing in Essex. Opens at 1pm, so bring some sarnis and we’ll have a picnic before we go in. It’s then just a short walk back to the cars, or possibly a swift drink in the Wheatsheaf.
Wednesday 11th September
Planning future trips and events.
Wednesday 18th September
Back Inn Time
It’s only over the road from the Y, so we thought it was about time we tried it out. Meet at 7.30pm. Let Cress know by 11th September if you want to come, so we can book a table. Back Inn Time is in Victoria Road (entrance in Cottage Place, past the Wheatsheaf)
Wednesday 25th September
Hebrides slide show
After a fortnight of sun, sand and turquoise seas we accumulated enough photos for several slide shows, so come along and see the best of the best.
Note: Unless otherwise stated, Wednesday events start at 8.30pm at the YMCA in Victoria Road, Chelmsford
