Bat Walk from the Viper

Meet at the Viper, Mill Green at 7.30p.m. for a stroll around the woods at dusk with the bat-detector. And a drink at the Viper PH afterwards (CM4 0PT for sat-navs, grid ref TL640019, see map).

Saturday 8^th September

Walk from Colchester to Chappel Beer Festival

Meet 2pm at Colchester mainline station for a walk to Chappel Beer Festival. 7½  miles along the Colne valley with a pub stop on the way at Fordham. Arrive at Beer Fest by 5.30pm, where you can spend a few hours in the wonderful setting of the railway museum before heading back on the Sudbury branch line to Marks Tey. Dengie Walk

To complement last year's hike around Mersea Island there will be a walk around Bradwell-juxta-Mare on the Dengie Peninsula on the south side of the River Blackwater. Bring sandwiches and meet at 10.30am in the parking area near Eastlands Farm at the start of the Roman road track to St Peter's Church (grid ref TL023078, see map).

Meal at Lanthai

A meal out at the Lanthai, the Thai restaurant on Victoria Road (just opposite the Y, see map), at 7.30pm.  Please let Cress know by 19^th September if you want to come.
