Wednesday 11th October

Pub Night - The Cricketers

Mike

How about a drink and a chat at this traditional Victorian pub in the heart of Chelmsford. The Cricketers, Moulsham Street, CM2 0JT, from about 8:30pm.

Saturday 14th October

Hospital Corners Walk

Cress

A 5 mile walk looking at the history of the NHS and public hospitals in South London.  Although only 5 miles long, my London walks usually have so much to look at, this will probably take all day.

Meet outside Oval Tube Station at 10.30am.

We take in Borough Market, Clink prison museum, Florence Nightingale museum, Guys Hospital, Imperial War Museum, several parks and the Tate Modern, after walking along the Thames, and end at London Bridge Station. We won't be able to go into everything we pass, but could try to visit the most interesting.

Please bring some snacks, we may be able to eat sandwiches in one of the parks, but it IS October, so we may need to buy something to eat inside a pub/cafe.

Wednesday 18th October

Committee Meeting

Planning events for January and trips for the autumn. Please feel free to join us. We'll be at The Crown in Sandon.

Mourne Wall, Slieve Commedagh

Wednesday 25th October

Ireland Slideshow

Dave P

The beginning of June saw CYHA visit Northern Ireland, now join us for the slideshow. Dramatic cliffs and misty mountains all steeped in myth and legend. All contributions to Dave P on a memory stick please.

Dial House Brancaster (Marion's photo)

Friday 27th to Sunday 29th October

Brancaster, Norfolk Coast

Marion

Everyone welcome to help Marion celebrate her big birthday with a weekend on the Norfolk Coast.

Brancaster Bunkhouse is a Grade 2 listed flint cottage owned by the National Trust. It is located within the picturesque harbour of Brancaster Staithe on the North Norfolk Coast, with the stunning sea views across the beautiful marshes. It's a great location for walking; the Norfolk coast path runs by the door.

The plan is to enjoy a coastal walk on the Saturday, followed by an evening meal in The White Horse Inn, Brancaster. And then we might need to do another long coastal walk on the Sunday to burn off a few calories. Marion has booked a table at the White Horse already, and will need to finalise numbers, and your menu choice nearer the time. Do we have a volunteer to make a birthday cake?!

The bunkhouse is situated on the seaward side of the A149 in Brancaster Staithe PE31 8BW. Turn down Harbour Way and Dial House is 200m down on the left hand side. Limited public parking at the harbour entrance - please share cars if possible.

Pillows are provided but you need to bring a sleeping bag, or sheets and duvet.

Deposit £42 to book your bed please.

Note: Unless otherwise stated, Wednesday events start at 8.30pm at the YMCA in Victoria Road, Chelmsford
