Pub Meal – The Three Elms

George

It’s George’s birthday, so whether you want to help him celebrate or just fancy a really good meal, please join us at The Three Elms in Chignal St James (CM1 4TZ) from 7:30pm.

Please let George know by 30th Sep if you’re coming, for table booking purposes.

Directions: leave Chelmsford on the A1060 (Rainsford Rd/Roxwell Rd), turn right at lights into Chignall Road, after 1 mile turn left (Mashbury Rd), signposted Chignall St. James. The Three Elms is on the right after another mile.


Saturday 10th October

Saturday Walk: Tilbury and Gravesend

Meet at 10:30am at the pier for Tilbury Ferry to catch the 10:42 ferry from Tilbury to Gravesend for a short walk around the notable sites. There’s the Sikh Temple, Pocahonta’s grave, plus the whole Dickens association, and there’ll be a chance to visit Tilbury Fort.. It’s bound to be fascinating. Please bring a snack lunch. There’s a car park by the passenger ferry pier (RM18 7NG).

The CYHA annual general meeting. Please make every effort to attend and help shape our club for the coming year.

Including a review of the year’s activities and election of the committee.

Ilam Hall Bunkhouse, Derbyshire

We’re staying at the National Trust bunkhouse at Ilam Hall. High quality accommodation providing a fantastic base to explore the Peak District National Park, in particular the limestone hills and gorges, meandering rivers and beautiful woodland of the White Peak.There’s also the possibility of hiring bikes on the nearby Tissington and Manifold trails.

Ilam Tearoom

Ilam Bunkhouse is in a wing of the old stable block behind Ilam Hall in Ilam Park; the stable block also houses the National Trust visitor centre and tea-room. The bunkhouse has three bedrooms with bunk beds and an open plan kitchen/dining and lounge area. It has underfloor heating and electric showers.

You need to bring a sleeping bag (and pillow if you want one).

Directions: Follow A515 north, at Dovedale bear left onto Spend Lane. Turn left onto Wintercroft Lane, take first right towards Ilam Moor Lane, follow the road round and carry on past the monument in the centre of Ilam up through the large gates. Postcode DE6 2AZ, see map. Remember we are in the NT bunkhouse, not the YHA hostel.

Deposit £36 please to reserve your bed. Total cost will be about £68 for the weekend.



Isle of Jura

At the end of May we had a fabulous trip to Jura, Islay and Colonsay. Join us for an evening taking in wild cliffs, soaring mountains and golden beaches. If you want to contribute, please put your pics on a memory stick and bring them along.
