An autumnal week in the Lake District. We've booked Fisherground Farmhouse in Eskdale - a self-catering house sleeping 16 people (4 doubles and 4 twins). The house is in the heart of Eskdale, one of the most tranquil valleys of the Lake District, and has fantastic views of the surrounding fells. The George IV pub is just 10 minutes walk away.

We expect the cost of accommodation to work out less than £20 per person per night.

This trip is fully booked.

Directions: From M6 J36 follow signs to Barrow (A590). 3 miles beyond Newby Bridge turn right to Workington (A5092). After 10 miles (¾ mile beyond Broughton) turn right at lights to Ulpha. Turn left in Ulpha village to the steep hill signed Eskdale. Follow the fell road to the King George IV pub (6 miles). Turn right up the valley road. Fisherground is 200 yards on left (CA19 1TF, ///chosen.central.central).  Please arrive after 17:00. The beds will be made up for you; please bring your own towels.

Zoom Meeting

Quite a few of us will be in the Lakes, so we figure this will just be a virtual pub night where anyone who fancies it can log on for a chat - and possibly some of us joining from a real pub in Eskdale (WiFi permitting).

Ware Walk

Meet at the Baldock Street Car Park, Ware, SG12 9DT at 10:30am (///crowds.venues.defeat TL356145). It's free on Sundays.

The plan is to walk along the River Lee to Rye House station then back along the New River into Ware which is about 9 miles. Bring sarnis.

Many of you will know that Marion (along with James, Nigel and Maggie) recently completed the Dales Way - 80 miles from Ilkley to Bowness-on-Windermere. Here is your chance to see what all the fuss is about and admire the stunning scenery for yourselves.
