Chilterns Bunkhouse

The Chilterns National Trust bunkhouse is a rustic restored barn surrounded by woodland on the Ashridge Estate near Tring. Despite its rural location, there are a couple of pubs within walking distance. Also Ivinghoe Beacon, the Ridgeway, Icknield Way and Chilterns Way paths are nearby. The Ashridge Estate is likely to be good for autumn colours in early November.

It’s quiz night at the White Horse Great Baddow, CM2 7HH. The quiz is at 8.30pm, or come at 7.30pm if you fancy a meal beforehand.

Saturday 16^th November

London Walk

John M

John will lead a hike along the North Bank, to complement our earlier hike along the South Bank. We shall have a look at the old City of London School, the grand front of the Temple, the Strand Palace, Cleopatra’s Needle, Trafalgar Square and some fearsome stone lions.  We shall then head up into the West End.

Please meet outside Tower Hill Underground Station after 10.00 am for a 1030 start.

I am still finalising the details for this walk. It may include an hour of leisure in the National Gallery.

You can bring some snacks but there will be plenty of places to stop for coffee and sandwiches.

Come and see Dave and Helen's pictures from the Amalfi coast and Sorrento in Italy. Stunning coastal scenery, Roman ruins including the superbly conserved port of Herculaneum, the impressive Greek temples at Paestum, hill top views in the shadow of Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples and the picture postcard villages of Amalfi tumbling into azure seas.

Friday 29^th November to Sunday 1^st December

Weekend in Oxford

Visit the City of Dreaming Spires, staying at YHA Oxford. Purpose-built hostel located close to the railway station in the heart of the city. Explore historic colleges, museums and pubs.

We also plan to walk a section of the Thames path, heading upstream from Oxford.

£50 deposit to book a bed please.
