Epping Forest Walk

Meet at the free car park at Connaught Water, just off the A1069 near Chingford (TQ404951, see map), at 10:30am for a walk of about 7¼ miles. Please bring your own lunch, but we hope there will be time for refreshments at Butlers Retreat at the end of the walk.

NT Talk: Stowe Maries Aerodrome

One of a series of history talks run by the local centre of the National Trust, this features the story of the WWI aerodrome at Stowe Maries.

Meet at Cramphorn Theatre, Fairfield Rd,  at 7:30pm (talk starts 7:45). Tickets are £4 (on the door).

Meet at The Imperial Cantonese Restaurant in Baddow Rd, Chelmsford, CM2 0BX from 7:30pm (Above William Hill and Renaissance Coffee Shop, parking in Baddow Rd/Meadows multi-storey, see map. Cost will be about £9.

Christmas in Birmingham!

We’re spending a weekend in Britain’s second city, staying at Hatters Hostel. "Located in the vibrant Jewellery Quarter in the heart of the city, the hostel is within walking distance of all the undiscovered gems, culture and nightlife that Birmingham has to offer".  There’ll also be a Christmas Market from Birmingham’s twin city, Frankfurt.  This is the largest outdoor Christmas Market in the country, complete with gluhwein, bratwurst and German beer.

Deposit £40 to book your place (or £118 to book a double room for the weekend). Most of us plan to travel by train – book soon to get a cheap ticket.

Wine Tasting

Need some guidance on choosing the perfect wine for your Christmas celebrations? Lily will be bring along some different types to try. You will need to let Lily know if you’re coming so we can make sure we have enough to go around. Cost will be about £5. Please bring 3 wine glasses each (preferably tulip shape).

Note: Unless otherwise stated, Wednesday events start at 8.30pm at the YMCA in Victoria Road, Chelmsford
