YHA Beverley Friary

Friday 30th April to Monday 3rd May

Beverley Friary, East Yorkshire

Ali

For the bank holiday weekend, stay in this beautiful old building in a quiet corner of the town. YHA Beverley, a restored medieval Dominican friary, is close to the minster and ideally placed to explore the cobbled lanes and elegant Georgian and Victorian terraces.

The coast from Bridlington to Spurn Head is just few minutes away, and there is easy access to York and the Yorkshire Wolds. There are walks on the Minster Way path and the Wolds Way, as well as cliff-top walks from Flamborough Head.

Deposit 42 to book your bed. Total cost of the weekend will be about 80 for the three nights, food and petrol contribution.

Copped Hall visit & walk

Cressida

Copped Hall is a splendid mansion and estate, which many of you will recognise from trips around the M25. Dating from about 1700, it was gutted by fire in 1917 and since then there has been gradually restored.

Tours last 2-3 hours and cost 7. Meet at the Hall at 10am. Please note, on guided tour days the gates are only open from 10am to 11am. After the tour we plan to do a short walk. There are coffee and cakes available at the hall, but we suggest you bring sandwiches for lunch.

From the M25, junction 26: Follow signs to Loughton (then to Epping). Drive uphill through the forest to the roundabout. Take the first left exit (B1393), passing the garage on the left. In slightly over half a mile, turn left, signposted Upshire. After a few hundred yards you will see on the right the entrance gates and gate houses to Copped Hall. See map

Wednesday 19th May

Pub Walk The Queens Head, Boreham
