No Meeting: Most of us will be in Cornwall!

Saturday 24th May to Sunday 1st June

A Week in Cornwall

Dave P

This year we’ll be spending the spring bank holiday week in Cornwall, staying at three different hostels. All are on the South West Coast Path, giving us opportunities to walk on three different sections of the coast, as well as the chance to visit beaches, picturesque towns, historical sites and magnificent gardens.

Perranporth Hostel

For the first four nights we’ll be at Perranporth hostel. Once a coastguard station, YHA Perranporth is perched in a clifftop location on the rugged north coast of Cornwall, with spectacular views of untamed Atlantic seas and three miles of sandy beaches.

Lizard Hostel

Then on Wednesday (28th May), we move on to Lizard hostel for three nights. A former Victorian hotel by the lighthouse at Lizard Point, this newly restored building has stunning views out to sea. Almost the most southerly building in England, it provides a superb base for exploring the spectacular coastline of this historic peninsula.

Elmscott Hostel

Our last night (31st May) will be at Elmscott hostel, near Hartland Point on the North Devon coast. This hostel is a renovated school building, surrounded by stunning unspoilt coastline, with views of Lundy Island.

The total cost for the week is expected to be about £220 (including beds, meals and contribution to petrol).

A deposit of £140 is required to book your bed.

Note: Unless otherwise stated, Wednesday events start at 8.30pm at the YMCA in Victoria Road, Chelmsford
