Wednesday 2nd March Pub night – The Rodney Ali This is a lovely traditional pub out at The Rodney, Little Baddow (CM3 4TQ), which does great beer. Ali will be there from about 8:30pm, but if you fancy treat you could come a bit earlier for a meal (food served from 7pm). Wednesday 9th March Committee Meeting Planning events for June and trips for the Autumn. Please feel free to join us. Sunday 13th March Castle Hedingham walk Ali Meet in Castle Hedingham at 10:30am, close to The Bell Inn in St James St (CO9 3EJ) for a walk of about 11 miles taking in Gt Yeldham and Sible Hedingham. Please bring sandwiches, but there should be plenty of opportunity for a teashop or pub when we get back. Wednesday 16th March Mountain Safety & Navigation Dave P A chance to re-fresh your safety skills before our Easter trip to the Lake Distrct. Wednesday 23rd March No meeting No meeting as quite a lot of us will already be on our way to the Lakes. Thursday 24th to Tuesday 29th March Easter in the Lake District Dave P Five nights at the Langton Centre, Hartsop in Patterdale, at the foot of the Kirkstone Pass, near Brotherswater, 2 miles from Ullswater and in sight of Hellvelyn and the High Street range. An ideal location for some of the best walking in the Lake District. The centre has been refurbished since our last visit. It has central heating, showers, a lounge with easy chairs, dining room and games room, a drying room and well equipped kitchen. Pillows and blankets are provided; you need to bring a pillowcase and sleeping bag or sheets and duvets. To find it, turn off A592 near Brotherswater onto the lane to Hartsop. We are in the big white house immediately on the left. Grid reference NY405133, postcode CA11 0NZ. Parking behind the house (by the games room, not in the lane). Cost will be about £17 per night including food, plus around £35 petrol contribution for those sharing lifts from Essex.
