Let Cress know by 8th June if you want to come for table booking purposes. Sunday 19th June Royston Cave & Walk Dave P A private tour of a mysterious cave cut into the chalk bedrock beneath Royston in Hertfordshire, followed by a stunning walk on the chalk downs above the town. No records of Royston cave's age or purpose exist. It may have been used by the Knights Templar, or as a private chapel or hermitage. It is unique for its numerous medieval carvings on the walls. We have exclusive access to the cave for an hour - a guided tour and a chance to study the carvings up close, take photographs, ask questions and soak up the cave's atmosphere. Following the tour of the cave, we'll go for a walk of about 8 miles exploring the woodland footpaths and chalk tracks of Therfield Heath, visiting Neolithic and Bronze Age barrows, and climbing to see the views from Therfield Hill. Meet at 10am at the Civic Centre Car Park, King James Way, Royston SG8 7XB (Car park free on Sundays) ///distanced.sudden.scope (cave tour starts 10:30). Places on the tour are limited; we're collecting £10 each in advance to book.
