Saturday 2nd to Saturday 9th June A Week in Provence Cress
We are pleased to be able to offer a week in Provence (South of France) this June from the 2nd to the 9th. We have booked a villa, Villa Wysteria, for our exclusive use, near the hilltop village of Gordes, which is 40km south east from Avignon, in the heart of the Luberon hills. The plan is to take the train from London to Avignon, then hire cars for the week to drive to and around Gordes. The walking in the area looks fantastic, with hilltop villages, ochre hills, abbeys, gorges and more mountainous areas, we are close to Mont Ventoux. There are other activities available in the area, cycling, horse riding, wine tours and buggy hire. Avignon, Orange, and Carpentras are all near enough for day trips, if you fancy a break from walking. The villa has some double, twin and bunk rooms, with open plan kitchen and living room, large terrace, swimming pool and landscaped garden. Check out some of the following websites for more info.
We've booked train tickets as a group, return from St Pancras to Avignon (change at Lille). Train leaves London St.Pancras at 08:57 on 2nd June. Eurostar requires check-in 30 minutes before departure. Hire cars are booked from Avignon TGV station. We expect the total cost of the trip to be around £450, including travel and meals. (We'll charge more than this for those in the double en suite rooms, and a bit less for those in the bunks.) You'll need to make your own arrangements for travel insurance, and check that you have an up-to-date European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) This trip is now fully booled Wednesday 6th June - No meeting Many of us will be in France. Wednesday 13th June Committee Meeting Come and join us. We’ll be looking for events for September and weekend trips for early winter. Meet at 10.30am in public car park behind the school in Cobham (Take Gravesend(E) exit from A2, grid ref TQ672685, see map). Please bring sandwiches for lunch.
