Park in the village main road and meet outside the Leather Bottle pub at 7:30pm for a walk of about 4 miles, finishing with a drink in the Leather Bottle around 9ish. (Pleshey is about 5 miles NW of Chelmsford, and the pub is in the centre of the village, postcode CM3 1HG, grid ref TL665145, see map).

We’ll be sorting through events for October & November and looking at trips for next year. Everybody welcome.

Moon Walk

A Night Hike by Moonlight!

Meet at The Compasses public house at Littley Green (TL698173, CM3 1BU, 8 miles north of Chelmsford, see map). Please do not park in the pub car park as we will be returning after closing time.

Come at 19.45hrs for a social drink/food

Energise your body by starting the event with a 'pint and huffer'. Walk from the pub towards Bannister Green, then onto the Flitch Way before returning to the cars at Littley Green, via Felsted

Start walking at approximately 21.00hrs. Distance about 9 miles, on footpaths, bridleways, byways and some roads

Bring appropriate warm clothing, drink and refreshments

We will walk without the use of torches/head torches, as a full moon is scheduled!

Wednesday 16^th July

Margaretting Tye Bike Ride

Join Jim for a cycle ride of 11.5 miles out to the White Hart pub in Margretting Tye, with 2 miles back to the car afterwards. The route goes through Galleywood, to West Hanningfield, through Stock to the White Hart at Margaretting Tye, and is all on quiet roads once we get out of Galleywood. Meet at Galleywood common car park off the B1007 Stock road (grid ref TL703022, see map) at 7:30pm, don't forget lights.

Pitch & Putt

An evening of something resembling golf! Meet in the car park of West Park Pitch and Putt, Waterhouse Lane, Chelmsford at 7.30pm if you want a game, or 9pm at the Black Bull pub in Rainsford Road if you just fancy a pint. Cost: approx. £5.

Friday 25^th to Sunday 27^th  July

Burnham Deepdale, Norfolk

Cycle or walk in North Norfolk. We’re staying at Deepdale Granary Group Hostel, right on the coast in the heart of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, famous for it’s nature and bird reserves, with miles of unspoilt beaches and dunes as well as excellent pubs nearby.

Burnham Deepdale is approximately half way between Hunstanton and Wells-next-the-Sea on A149 coast road. Postcode PE31 8DD, grid ref TF804441. The Group Hostel is close to the road with parking in front and information centre attached. You need to bring a sleeping bag.

Deposit £38 please (total cost for the weekend will be about £63 including food and petrol contributions).

Wednesday 30^th July

Evening Walk - Ongar

Starting from the Budworth Hall car park in Chipping Ongar at 7:30pm (large car parks on both sides of High St. A128, grid ref TL552031, see map), we’ll be taking a lovely walk of 3 or 4 miles out to Greensted Church (oldest wooden church in the world) and back. We should be propping up the bar in The Cock in Ongar from about 9pm.

Note: Unless otherwise stated, Wednesday events start at 8.30pm at the YMCA in Victoria Road, Chelmsford
