Wednesday 2nd July Activity Night A chance to try archery, shooting or climbing at the Belchamps Scout activity centre in Hockley (note change of venue). Please contact Jonathan if you’re interested. The cost will be no more than £5 each. The centre is in Holyoak Lane (signposted from the main road in Hockley), and we’ll be there from 7.30pm. Friday 4th to Sunday 6th July Littlehampton, West Sussex YHA Littlehampton is a modern hostel on the bank of the River Arun at Fisherman’s Wharf (follow signs to "Look and Sea Visitor Centre"). Just minutes from the beach, it is a great base to explore the south coast. Enjoy a stroll along the seafront or head inland along the riverside for a walk to Arundel and the South Downs. Or there are harbour cruises, river boat trips, sandy beaches, and amusement parks. And don’t miss a visit to the eye-catching architecturally-controversial East Beach Café. Deposit £32 will book your bed. Total cost about £50. Wednesday 9th July Wildlife Guided Walk in Hylands Park Join Tony Walentowicz, the Keeper of Natural Sciences from Chelmsford Museum, for a walk and talk on the parklands of Hylands House. Use the Writtle bypass entrance to Hylands Park, and meet at the far left end of the car park at 7:30pm. The walk lasts 1½ to 2 hours.

Brigitte Brigitte has proposed a trip to stay at her
parents’ cottage at Saint-Firmin in the Valgaudemar valley between Gap and Grenoble, on the edge of the 'Parc National des Ecrins', not far from the Champsaur Valley and the Devoluy valley. The cottage can accommodate up to 10 people. We
can do several day walks in the mountains, and there is also the possibility of
longer excursions staying at mountain huts. Cost would be around £70 for flight,
plus perhaps £100 towards car hire and other transport costs, and a
contribution for food, electricity etc. at the cottage. There is a choice of going on Monday 14th
and staying for 2 weeks or Monday 21st for 1 week. Please let Nigel know if you’d like to come - he can give you flight details so you can book your own ticket. Wednesday 16th July Committee Meeting Join us to plan our winter trips and events
for September & October. Everybody welcome. Sunday 20th July Fenstanton Walk A 7-mile walk alongside the River Great Ouse taking
in the nature reserve of Fen Drayton. We’ll stop at a pub, but best to bring
sandwiches for lunch. Take the Fenstanton turn off the A14. Drive past the
dairy, and through the village, then with the King William pub on your left,
turn right at the mini roundabout. Parking is about 100 yards up on the left,
next to a playing field. Be there at 10.30am. Wednesday 23rd
July Cycle Ride Join Jim for a cycle ride of 11.5 miles out
to the White Hart pub in Margretting Tye, with 2 miles back to the car
afterwards. The route goes through Galleywood, to West Hanningfield, through
Stock to the White Hart at Margaretting Tye, and is all on quiet roads once we
get out of Galleywood. Meet at Galleywood common car park off the B1007 Stock
road (grid ref TL703022, see map) at 7:30pm, don't forget lights. Wednesday 30th July Pub Walk – Little Baddow Join Dave for a 3½ mile walk taking in nature
reserves and Woodham Walter Common before returning to the pub through Bassets
Wood. Meet at The Rodney in Little Baddow (grid ref TL778079, see map) at 7:30pm for the walk or 9pm for a
drink afterwards. Note: Unless otherwise stated, Wednesday events start at 8.30pm at
the YMCA in Victoria Road,
