Wednesday 7th January Pub Night – The Orange Tree Andrew Chelmsford & Mid Essex CAMRA Pub of the Year 2014. The Orange Tree, Lower Anchor Street, CM2 0AS Wednesday 14th January Committee Meeting We’ll be organising events for April & May and trips for next summer. Everybody welcome. Saturday 17th January Hampstead Heath Walk Cress Meet at Gospel Oak Station at 10.30am for a walk of about 6½ miles. The walk will be around the whole of Hampstead Heath and include Highgate Cemetery. The walk will pass Kenwood House and we may be able to visit, if there’s time. We also go into Highgate Cemetery (East) - that's the free bit but it IS where Karl Marx and Douglas Adams are buried, and see all the bathing ponds. We will get excellent views (weather permitting) over the whole of London from Parliament Hill. Bring your own lunch, but there may be pub and or tea shop opportunities. Please note there is some train disruption expected and it may be best to travel between Stratford and Gospel Oak by overground. Be sure to allow enough time for your journey. Wednesday 21st January Indian Night Andrew Indian Night is the smart-looking Indian Restaurant next door to Widford Church (A414 London Rd, CM2 8TE, car park entrance from northbound carriageway). They do a midweek special on Wednesdays (starter, main, rice, side dish & coffee for £14.95). So if you fancy joining us for a heart-warming curry, let Andrew know by Wed 14th to book a seat. Table booked for 7.30pm Wednesday 28th January Slide Show – Northern Cyprus Jim Both Jim and John M have recently been on trips to rocky northern Cyprus. Join us for a slide show of the spectacular scenery and fascinating history. Friday 30th January to Sunday 1st February Earlswood, Forest of Arden Cress Earlswood Log Cabin is set in stunning countryside on the edge of Warwickshire. Enjoy walking in the Forest of Arden or sightseeing in nearby Birmingham, Warwick and Stratford-upon-Avon. The cabin has central heating, a well equipped kitchen and showers. You’ll need to bring a sleeping bag. Deposit £28 please. Note: Unless otherwise stated, Wednesday events start at 8.30pm at the YMCA in Victoria Road, Chelmsford |
