We're staying at Kipps Hostel, an independent hostel in Canterbury. It is a short walk to the city centre and the historic attractions including the renowned Canterbury Cathedral. Canterbury also makes an ideal base for day trips to Dover and Leeds Castle, and walks on the downs and coast.

Directions: Take B2068 to Hythe from City Ring Road (A28). Turn right at first traffic lights by church. Kipps is 300 yds on left (40 Nunnery Fields, CT1 3JT). On-street parking.

Deposit £40 to book your place please.

Pub Night – The White Hart

I’m not sure I’ll recognise this haunt from my teenage years, but we thought we’d try The White Hart, Little Waltham, CM3 3NY. We’ll be in the bar from about 8:30pm.

Committee meeting

Planning events for May and trips for the autumn. Please feel free to join us. We’ll be at The Crown in Sandon from 8.30pm.

Saffron Trail part VI

Just a little 6 miler for the winter. Meet in Henham High Street near the post office at 10:00am for a car shuffle to Gt Easton, walking back to Henham for a warm up in The Cock.

Meal at Turtle Bay

Chase those winter blues away with a slice of Caribbean cuisine, courtesy of the Turtle Bay restaurant in Exchange Way, Chelmsford (the old Post Office). Let Dave know by 13 Feb if you want to come. Dining 7:30pm.

Capital Ring slide show

The Capital Ring is a 78 mile route around London joining together over 50 green spaces hidden in the suburbs and urban sprawl including Oxleas Meadows, Abney Park cemetery and the Docklands Campus of the University of London. You will see pictures spread over the 3 years and 3 months that Cress and Mike took to complete the walk in 9 stages....Will you be able to see them age or their paunches grow??.

Note: Unless otherwise stated, Wednesday events start at 8.30pm at the YMCA in Victoria Road, Chelmsford
