Pub Night: The Green Man

Come and join us for a drink at this friendly pub, just north of Chelmsford at Howe Street.

Leave Chelmsford towards Great Dunmow on A130, turn left at the last roundabout (signpost Howe St. and Gt. Waltham) Pub on the left after ½ mile (grid ref. TL696148).


Wednesday 8th February

Ten Pin Bowling

Sport without the pain. Ten-pin bowling at Megabowl, Tattershall Way, Widford Industrial Estate, Chelmsford, 8.30pm (See directions). Let Dave J know by 1st Feb if you want to come, so he can book a couple of lanes. Cost is £9 for two games.


Sunday 12th February

Newport/Debden walk

Experience the Essex Alps on this 6.5 mile walk between Newport and Debden. Newport is lined with handsome buildings dating from medieval times to the 19th century and the return leg runs across Debden Park and the valley of Debden Water. Naturally there is a pub half way - please let Dave know by 8th February if you want a pub lunch.

Meet at 10.30am at Newport railway station. (From Bishop's Stortford, follow the B1383 to Newport, and turn right into Station Road - Esso petrol station on the corner, see map). Station car park costs £1 on Sundays.

We will be trip planning for the Summer and organising Wednesday evening activities for April.

Come and see pictures of Utah, Montana & Wyoming from John's tour with Explore in July. Places visited include the boiling geysers of Yellowstone, the jagged mountains of Grand Teton, the US Dinosaur National Monument and the spectacular scenery of Arches, Canyonlands & Needles National Parks.

Weekend in France

A weekend walking in northern France. We'll take cars on the ferry leaving Dover at 4pm on Friday and stay at Boulogne-sur-Mer Youth Hostel. Explore the countryside and enjoy fine cliff-top walks, have a meal out on Saturday night, and return on the 6.45pm ferry on Sunday. The cost of the weekend will probably be around £60 each (excluding evening meals).

A deposit of £40 will enable us to book your place.


Note: Unless otherwise stated, Wednesday events start at 8.30pm at the YMCA in Victoria Road, Chelmsford
