Sunday 16th August

Dorset coast

Chishill & Chrishall Sunday Walk

Dave P

Meet at the car park at Great Chishill Windmill (car share if possible as this is a fairly modest car park) at 11am for a splendid walk of about 8 miles taking in the rolling chalk hills of the Essex/Cams/Herts border. Please bring sandwiches, but there will be a chance for afternoon refreshments at the Red Cow, Chrishall. This walk is a must for all peak-baggers as it takes in the highest point in Essex.

Chishill Windmill is about 1 mile west of Gt Chishill on the B1039, accessible either from the A10 at Royston or B1383 at Wendens Ambo (grid ref TL414388, see map). It’s quite tucked away down some windy lanes, so please allow enough time for your journey (about 70mins from Chelmsford, hence later start).

Wednesday 19th August

Dinner at The Alma

Cress

Join us for a lovely pub meal at The Alma, just off Springfield Road. Meet in the bar from 7:30pm to eat about 8ish. If the weather looks nice we might even try eating out on the patio.

The Alma, 37 Arbour Lane, Chelmsford, Essex, CM1 7RG. Menu etc. can be found on their website: www.thealma.info, but main courses jostle around the £10 mark.

Wednesday 26th August

The Pyrenees are a spectacular range of mountains that run from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic separating Spain from France. Historically very popular with the British, come and see Dave & Helen’s slides to find out why.
