Other Forthcoming Events
If you have any suggestions or preferences for trips and events please let the committee know. We have the following planned so far:
Thursday 9th to Tuesday 14th April 2020
Easter in the Lake District
We'll be staying in the Carlisle Diocesan Youth Centre at St John's-in-the-Vale, nestled in the North Lakeland hills, a remote and rugged location, yet only 4 miles from Keswick.
£40 deposit to book a bed.
Saturday 2nd to Saturday 9th May 2020
Casa La Negra is a large villa in a secluded spot overlooking the Sierra Tejadas National Park, near the villages of Baños de Vilo and Periana, about 50 minutes' drive from Malaga Airport.
We expect the total cost of the week to be around £400, including flights and car hire.
Please contact Cressida if you want more details.
This trip is now full.
Friday 22nd to Monday 25th May
Bank Holiday weekend at YHA Street, a Swiss-chalet style hostel near Glastonbury. Climb the Tor, walk in the Mendip Hills and the Somerset Levels. Also visiting the seaside at Weston-super-Mare might be possible, and the Quantock Hills are not far away.
Directions: From Street, take the Somerton road (B3151) south for two miles. Turn right at the Marshall Elms crossroads signposted for Bridgwater A39. The hostel is 500 yards on the right. If you're using a Sat Nav please enter the location as 'Street', the road name as 'Cockrod' and select 'Marshall Elms Cross Road', don't use the hostel postcode. (grid ref ST480345).
£57 deposit to book a bed.
Friday 26th to Sunday 28th June
Weekend in Oxford
Visit the City of Dreaming Spires, staying at YHA Oxford. Purpose-built hostel located close to the railway station in the heart of the city.
We plan to walk a section of the Thames path, heading upstream from Oxford (the walk we were unable to do last year because of flooding).
Also a chance to explore historic colleges, museums and pubs.
£50 deposit to book a bed please.
Wednesday 16th to Sunday 27th September
Scotland: West Highland Way
We're planning to walk the West Highland Way, Scotland's best known long distance walking route; 96 miles from Milngavie to Fort William. We're planning 8 days walking, between 7 and 15 miles each day, plus a couple of rest days and travelling days, making a 12 day trip, starting 16th September. We'll stay at hostels and bunkhouses, and use a baggage transfer service.
This trip is now fully booked.
